157 Ways To Live

Its the End of the World

If you haven’t already heard the world is going to end tomorrow. What to do on such an important date in history? Some will celebrate winter solstice with offerings, ceremony and drums. Others will party, beatrock and drink. There will be some who protest the incorrect citations of Mayan history while others will go about their daily lives unaware of the pending catastrophic change in human existence.

Me, I want cheesecake. I’m gonna make my boyfriend take me to the Cheesecake Factory, have a couple cocktails and will most likely fall asleep at a reasonable hour. Whatever, seems like a good way to go for me.

But before I go and do all that… I want to share my list of goals and wishes for the world that begins when this one ends.

First, my goals (call them “New Year’s Eve resolutions” if you will). They are pretty self explanatory, objective and quantifiable, as all goals should be and in no particular order.

1. Run a half marathon
2. Do 35 pull ups
3. Complete Master’s thesis
4. No credit card debt
5. Hike the Grand Canyon
6. Group fitness certification
7. Move in with boyfriend
8. Publish book of poetry
9. Organize SF Bay Area AF3IRM Summer school for Women
10. 10 sessions of personal psychotherapy

A holistic list that prioritizes physical, academic, emotional and spiritual health, overall.
What are your goals for the new world?

Now, however hopeful these goals may be, my wishes are somber. Or rather, they come from a somber place.

In the new world that will come after this one passes, I wish no violent deaths for women children AND men. I wish for a world that teaches love of all creeds and color, all ages and races - whether they love dick or pussy, have a higher degree or bad credit. These things do not matter as much as life, peace and acceptance. I wish for a world that will respect it’s source of life so that it thrives longer than this world that is dying. I wish for these things and hope that they come true.

Who knows? I just might survive the end of the world. With these goals and these wishes, I feel pretty confident that whatever world I wake up to - in death or in life - I’m gonna make it better than this one I was born into.

See you in the next world friends! Stay safe!

what I have been told about sex

by my ancestors

by religion & politics:

“sex is not for the pleasure of women.”

by music and television

“sex is fun. sex sells. sex + party = yolo.”

“sex is money and power”

by my parents:

“don’t have sex until you’re married! don’t get pregnant!”

by my friends:

“just do it, breh.”
